Single: Settle Down
Release: 24th February 2014
Manchester quartet The 1975 have announced they will release their new single ‘Settle Down’ on February 24th, through Dirty Hit/Polydor.
Following their huge breakthrough success last year with a string of hits - ‘Chocolate’, ‘The City’, ‘Sex’ and ‘Girls’ - and a number one debut album, the band are set to continue their ascendancy throughout 2014.
Having sold out every UK gig put on sale to date, The 1975 kick off the year with three shows at Manchester Academy and three shows at Brixton Academy in early January. They follow this with dates in Australia and Japan before returning to the UK for another run of sold out gigs in February. Their show at the Royal Albert Hall on April 6th sold out in a matter of days.
The 1975’s eponymous album, which was released in August to much critical acclaim and has already topped sales of over 170,000, was recorded in Liverpool’s Motor Museum, and produced by drummer George Daniel, frontman Matthew Healy and producer Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys, Foals). A collection of memories, overheard conversations, and snapshots in time, The 1975 is a love letter to youth, played out in bold and brash Technicolor.
Single: The Girls
Release: 11th November 2013
Following on from their #1 debut album The 1975 will release their new single “Girls” on November 11th 2013.
Recorded in Liverpool’s Motor Museum, and produced by drummer George Daniel, frontman Matthew Healy and producer Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys, Foals), “Girls” seamlessly melds The 1975’s kaleidoscopic range of influences to encapsulate all that is great about alt pop music in 2013. “Girls is us at our most audacious” says Matthew Healy.
A collection of memories, overheard conversations, and snapshots in time, The 1975 is a love letter to youth, played out in bold and brash Technicolor. The 1975 are an alternative rock band from Manchester in England. The group consists of Matthew Healy (vocals/guitar), Adam Hann (guitar), George Daniel (drums), and Ross MacDonald (bass).
They announced a UK tour and new EP "Music For Cars"and taken from it "Chocolate" follows in the footsteps of their two acclaimed EPs Facedown and Sex. It's a single that perfectly encapsulates the band's signature hybrid sound of alternative rock, pop, R&B and modern soul. Proving that this Mancunian four-piece is ever bold in pushing past sonic boundaries and are so much more than the sum of their parts.
With Chocolate, The 1975's pop swagger and vigour comes to the fore with the track's syncopated, propulsive beats and day-dreaming guitar riffs. A future alternative anthem in the making.
Currently holed up in a studio working on new material, The 1975's debut album will be co-produced by the band and the award-winning Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys, Foals). With this single already making (radio)waves, the full-length promises to be an affair of enormous proportions.
The 1975 have confirmed plans to play a headline tour across the UK this summer.
The band will play six dates across the country in May in support of their forthcoming debut album, which they are co-producing with Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys, Foals).
