Wave 105

Liz Allaway joined Wave 105 in November '07, having worked for other local radio stations around Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

I grew up in Oxfordshire, and came down south in 1999 to study physiology and nutrition at Southampton University.

Having completed my degree I moved to Ashurst and decided a scientific research job wasn’t for me. So I took a bit of a tangent, heading to Bournemouth University to do an MA in journalism.

Originally my plan was to use my background to become a newspaper health reporter. However, while at Bournemouth I discovered a love of radio, and I’ve never looked back.

My greatest achievement so far was being nominated for the IRN Young Journalist award 2005.

My favourite hobbies are a bit of cycling round the beautiful New Forest (though that sounds virtuous, the abundance of pubs to stop at is the real reason for my efforts!), and going to the cinema. During the evenings, I’m most often found on the sofa curled up with my toothless cat Debs!
